Let go of the past.

let go

I want us to study Joshua 1:1-8 for some days.

Why did God say to Joshua in verse 1 “Moses my servant is DEAD”?

Joshua knew Moses was dead because he had just mourned him for 30 days but God still told him.

The next statement is very key to understanding why God said that to him “- Arise and go over Jordan…”

I believe God is saying you’ve got to forget all the great things I did with and through Moses and look forward to what I will do with you.

God is about to do great things for you.

Stop talking about the good old days, something better is on the way.

Have you not read that it pleases God to put away the old so the he might establish the new?

Have you not read that when God turned around our captivity we were like them that dreamed?

We are all products of our past but we must not be prisoners of it.

Friends, whatever your achievements or losses have been, you must let go of it so that you can step into new.

Someone will break your record and rubbish your record if you don’t attempt to set a new one.

I wish I had time to preach this message to you so I can help you see what God is saying.
Let’s read what Paul said:

One thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.
Phil3:13-14

The past has one agenda – to stop you from seeing the future.
